Hi
I'm new to this forum and would appreciate some help

I use ghostsurf (privacy edition) and notice that it periodically uses nearly 100% cpu time (every few seconds). THis is occurs when I'm not actively using ghosturf, and its just idling in the background. Contacted tenebril and they haven't been helpful. And I have checked that the crash diagonostics logging is not on.

My PC: 2.5Ghz athlon pc runs xp with 512mb of ram. The virtual memory is automatically managed by the system, I haven't used a custom setting.

The high cpu % coincides with a high page fault/sec activity, as seen in the xp 'performance monitor' or similarly the 'process explorer' utility. I think this is a soft page fault, as 'page file usage history' doesn't change when ghostsurf is closed down? And nor does there appear to be excessive disk read/writes according the performance monitor (assuming I'm interpreting the info correctly). More crudely, my hard drive isn't crunching away, the red light lights up momentarily after every a 5 or 6 seconds. Although under the both the columns 'i/o write & read bytes' in 'process explorer', ghostsurf is continuously generating these?

Inquiring why ghostsurf is using so much cpu resources (and none of my other programs running the background do)

cheers

Hello Cadet,
say i know its a while since you wrote this, but i stumbeld into the very same problem on two of my machines. i wonder did you ever got to the bottom of this problem ?
my only solution so far is to replace Ghostsurf with Anonymizer, but its not quite a very satisfying one, since the latter has a bit less features ?

thx bernd
