I started my computer this morning and there's no sound any more. I've come to realize that "error code 88780078" (from winamp) basically means that there's an issue with my sound card/driver.

I went to update the driver (Sound Blaster X-Fi) and after opening the driver install program, I get an error that says "product not installed" and exits.

I've had this happen twice before, and both times re-updating the driver was all it took. Now that this doesn't work, what do I do to fix it?

EDIT---I just realized I had Service Pack 2 Automatically Updated right around the first time I ran into this problem. Is that a likely cause?

Try removing the sound card from the motherboard, and then reinstall it. If that doesn't work, change the slot that it is in if possible.
