About a week and a half ago, my computer got infected with the WinReanimator instillation application. I have run Spybot, Ad-Aware, and then Spy Sweeper, but to no avail. The pseudo windows pop-up window keeps showing up on my screen.

My brother (a computer expert, and as he proudly terms himself, "a geek" ) removed the registry keys and also removed all the files on the computer that are related to WinReanimator. Still, after running all the scans and removing all the detected items, once we restarted my computer, the pop-up window in the right hand corner of my screen popped up again!

We understand that this is a hidden file that keeps re-installing, but now we don't know what do. It seems impossible to eradicate. Could someone help us find this file?

Oh, and p.s... I'm a girl who has NO computer experience WHATSOEVER. And my brother lives in another city from me, so thorough explanations would be great! Smile Thanks!

The file you have attached, ListSearch.exe does not appear to be malware. Some AV scanners detect it as malware but it's a false positive.

The next thing you could do is to follow this http://wiki.castlecops.com/MRP

If that doesn't help post a Hijackthis log in this forum.

I also suggest you install Windows Defender (if you use Windows XP), which is free and is available from http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Coincidentally, I just asked about this recently.
This file is also found in the listmaker application.

do you even have that file on your computer?
I'm thinking it might've been a forum error, possibly related to the recent downtime.
