I am running SH on Firefox 2.0.0.12. When I open Firefox I get this message "windows cannot find '\SiteHound_Update.exe'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search"

Any help???

mmmm...you're the second person to have this happen, I wonder if there must be a third party program perhaps preventing this file from being properly installed ?

I've attached the SiteHound Update file to this reply, so unzip the file and place in the Program Files/Firetrust/SiteHound/ directory.

However if you still have issues, I'd suggest trying to install SiteHound again, in case there were other files missing.

Cheers
Chris

Ok thanks used the file, I have tried un-installing & re-installing the software and it made not difference, getting the same message.

I'm having exactly the same problem with SiteHound v2 under Firefox 2.0.0.12 with Wondows XP. I have also tried re-installing the program, but it makes no difference. The SiteHound_Update.exe file is in the directory, but the update button can't seem to find it.

I am using McAfee VirusScan with the personal firewall, but I have set it up to allow access to SiteHound_Update.exe as described in the help file.

This is my first use of SiteHound, although I am a long-time user of MailWasher Pro.

For some reason, SiteHound is looking in the wrong place for the Update file, until we figure out exactly what is going on, you can download and extract the above file into your C:\

That should ensure the update is working, as rather than SiteHound looking in the C:\Program Files\Firetrust\SiteHound\ folder for this file, it's looking in C:\

But only for some users.....weird.....

I copied SiteHound_Update.exe and zlib.dll on C:\ and it's working now

Ah right I forgot zlip.dll

For anyone else reading, this file will also be in "C:\Program Files\Firetrust\SiteHound\", so copy this and the SiteHound_Update.exe into C:\

Thanks
Chris

Actually, putting zlib.dll into C:\windows\system32\ would be tidier... Wink

I had the same problem as Coullio. I had installed SH on my D: drive - could this be relevant?

Anyway, all is well now - thanks!

Putting SiteHound_Update.exe and zlib.dll on C:\ will ONLY work if you installed SiteHound in a folder on C:. If you installed on another drive, ie V:\My Programs\SiteHound , you need to copy the SiteHound_Update.exe and zlib.dll to the root of that drive, ie V:\

Hi all

Sorry for the delay. We've found the issue and making the fix now, so downloading and installing SiteHound again from www.firetrust.com will fix this issue.

Should you not wish to install the whole thing again, attached is the Registry patch that you can run, which will also fix this problem.

Download and save this file, then exit Firefox so it is not running. Run the file, answer Yes to import into the Windows Registry.

Hi everyone,

I'm a very new user of SH, purchased it last week, and I too have had this problem. I tried the patch above and it did not work for me. Uninstall and full re-install does seem to work. Have to wait until tomorrow to see if the auto update feature works.

For the record, I have Vista Home Premium, 64 bit

I have registered copy of Sitehound and have downloaded both the latest IE and Firefox versions.
I have noticed that when I open either browser the update kicks in but seems to take too long at the 'purge database' stage with consequent slowing down of the browser.....
Is anyone else having this problem?
I am a long time satisfied user of both Mailwasher and Sitehound.

We've tried to keep this at a low prioirty so it shouldn't interfere, but there must be more we can do here. Will get this looked at soon, hopefully have something in 2-3 weeks.
