Hi there
Having installed Sitehound 2.0 for Firefox, I am unable to update as I get a message saying that Windows can't find SiteHound_Update.exe.
I've tried uninstalling then re-installing but with no positive result. Help please.

Hi there
The problem is that SiteHound got confused where the update file was, but trying to be smart, it also stored this information.
Assuming you are an XP user, if you close Firefox, then if you navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\SiteHound\ and delete the file called config.dat
Restart Firefox, and re-enter your SiteHound User ID, everything should then be fine.
Apologies for this hassle
Cheers

As long as it doesn't work I call it SiteDog and not SiteHound...

Do either of you have Firefox installed in a non-standard path (IOW, Not in C:\Program Files\)? _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

After deleting the file, download and install SiteHound again from www.firetrust.com
Also be sure when you delete the file that your browser is not open
Cheers

Chris,
I did everything you have posted so far and it still re-creates the config.dat file. Once I have deleted, then re-open firefox, it first comes up with this error: Windows cannot find "\createSHAC.exe' make sure you typed the file name correctly, and then try again. I hit ok and then it immediately brings up the SiteHound_Update.exe error. Please help, very frustrated.
Thanks,

Uninstall SiteHound >> Delete *everything* in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\SiteHound\ >> download and install SiteHound again, make sure you download it again, if you use a copy you have stored on your computer it may well be the wrong one. _________________ I wish my lawn was emo, then it would cut itself

That's our fault. We altered it so it didn't as it was causing some problems, then we moved the user config files to a different location, but did not alter the uninstaller to remove these files when it now can do so without issue.
We'll get that fixed up soon as well

Should something like ccleaner or one of the registry cleaners be used to get the last of the bits or will just deleting it (uninstalling) be enough?

Thanks Chris, not only did I find the Update.exe file under "Themes" after deleting (as I thought) everything, I have now succeeded in downloading and, so far, it is working well.
As I am unable to use broadband (we live in a mountain village that is yet to enter the 21st century), is it possible that using SiteHound will slow down Firefox? I hope not.
Cheers
