Has anyone had any experience with running both successfully on a 98se ?
I installed BOClean and it looked as though it would work well but
as soon as Scotty did it's 'monitoring round' and BOClean picked
up the monitoring movement everything Froze, and would not Unfreeze - without a restart.
Had added several Apps to BOClean's 'Don't touch' area before running it, which included Scotty and several other
very trustworthy Apps, but to no avail.
Of course BOClean had to go because Scotty is not
incompatible with any other App. that I run.

Oh well Hewee at least you still have the Rose amongst the thorns OS -
I have been using RegSeeker for several years but it does a very different type of job to BOClean.
Regards.

No worries Corrine, anyway you might be using
Hasta La 'Vista' by now.

I think you made the right decision, Ducain.
When BOClean was owned and ran by Privacy Software Corporation...I ran it along side WinPatrol without any problems what so ever. When Comodo took over BOClean, I uninstalled BOClean.
Reason being....when I downloaded and installed Comodo Personal Firewall to give it a try....I could NOT even get the Comodo firewall to work. I tried numerous things...numerous times...with no luck. Even tried uninstalling...cleaning the registry....reinstalling new/different versions...but to no avail. I even contacted Comodo via their forums and tried to figure out what was wrong through their moderators....but they still could not figure out what the problem was.
So my guess would be....now that Comodo owns and operates BOClean...that the problem would lie more with BOClean (Comodo) than with WinPatrol. WinPatrol has operated smoothly on my XP system for a few years now....and has always worked well with other software, while Comodo wouldn't even work for me.

Does not necessarily lead to the conclusion that it is Comodo's fault - Bill *has* changed a lot of code in WinPatrol since back in the day, so you cannot discount it completely.
Plus, Comodo FW was being beta tested, and is now working a lot better than it was before - and that is saying a lot. The last set of Matousec tests list it as one of the top 4 FWs.
Your experience (and many others') points to Comodo - but a *lot* of other people's experiences say otherwise. _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

True, and I didn't say with any level of certainty that it was the fault of BOClean (Comodo).....just that considering the 3+ years of WinPatrol operating smoothly alongside other software on my machine(s) versus a product that many people have had problems with simply working for a day (myself included) kind of led me to that possibility.

When PSC owned BOClean, I never experienced any problems between BOClean and WinPatrol. But I *DID* experience problems with Comodo (the new and current owners of BOClean)

Thank you, John. Even though I don't currently, nor do I plan to use Comodo PF...I'm glad to hear that they have made improvements to the product. I'm also glad to see you acknowledge that my experience was not an isolated incident, and that Comodo has had it's share of problems over the years.

True...and I was simply sharing MY experience. As you're aware, though, I'm not alone...because several users have had problems with Comodo over the past couple of years. From viewing threads at the Comodo forum and at Wilders, I knew I wasn't alone in that regard.
Again, I was simply relaying my thoughts in regards to my own personal experience, as well as what I have witnessed from others, as to the possibility......

Yes JR. I must agree that your last para. above says it all -
Johnl. mentions that Bill has changed the code but Scotty still
appears to be compatible with almost every other App.
(certainly with all 120 of mine) while some
Comodo products do tend to hit the fan in the compatibility
area.
I was hoping others had found no problems running both
but having now read a web page of BOClean I can see
they more or less anticipate there being issues, even on XP.
They appear to blame 98se memory management but I don't recall Bill ever referring to such like getting in his way, nor any of the other 119
Apps. I use without a hitch - Have decided to use this little thing called 'Tiny Watcher' which has no compat.\memory issues,
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/olwatcher.html
http://www.comodo.com/boclean/supboc.html
Thanks and
Kind Regards to yourself and Johnl.

I have had both BOClean and Win Patrol Plus.
If the choice was mine and I had to keep one or the other....I'd take Win Patrol.
