Last week, I had something crazy go on, I was on campus March 13th sending off reports, to registrars of ns-martian, laxarta.com (tousu@xinnet.com, registrar@xinnet.com, support@xinnet.com, support@xinnet.net jiww@xinnet.com, wanghuan@xinnet.com, spam@ccert.edu.cn, investors@chinamobilitysolutions.com, angela@chinamobilitysolutions.com, investors@xinnet.net, abuse@anti-spam.cn, crimeinformation@police.gov.hk), feriedoe.com (same contacts as above), and then a huge bulk report to network-abuse @ geocities (basically a copy/paste dump of the URIBL page...for clarification purposes).
I got home later that night, or the next day; cant remember....and attempted to login and my "account has been disabled" - was directed to the Help Center where they told me it may be temporary and that I needed to wait 24 hours before contacting them.
So I waited, that didn't help. Finally I went back to the account disabled page and filled out the form, filled in my alternative contact address, and well, this morning I was able to login to my account.
Something must have went wonky somewhere and they disabled my account on accident or something. Maybe due to either the huge message to Yahoo, or having too many recipients, who knows.
But yea, last night I even went as far as e-mailing my "disabled account" and gmail told me "No such user".
Well, my e-mails and everything are all still intact it seems...but yea. Who knows what happened....pfft.
It could probably happen to almost any mail provider if they don't like the recipients, amount of recipients, or content of the messages though.
No word back though from Google regarding what happened.

I think their time would be better spent disabling some blogs.

You sent an email containing over two thousand Geocities spam redirections, and Gmail suspended your account.
Have I got that right?

I think this could have something to do with them trying to weed out those accounts that were set up when the captcha was broken. I had the same thing happen. Was happily reporting a bunch of spam and all of a sudden it stopped sending. I had my Gmail webpage open and went to switch to the sent page and it locked me out as disabled. I went to the "What if it says my account is disabled page" and redid the login, but this time it had a very complex captcha on it. Never did before. I entered the captcha and everything immediately went back to normal.
Never know, but that's my guess.

 | yep, exactly...haha. So ironic.
@Missileman, nope that's not what happened to me; I was simply locked out, for nearly 5 days
Even went as far as answering, "Do you think your account has been compromised/hacked?" route, and attempted to change my password, but was soon prompted with account disabled.
But it's all good now, but no message stating why or how it happened.
Previously, I've sent far more reports in an hour or two than that; but it could have possibly been due to the sheer "volume" (size) of the messages, and the number of CCed contacts I suppose, I guess they thought it was malicious
If only their detection was that good for blogspot spammers....but that's another topic, lol.
