Spammers are out to make money and Registars are out to make money. When you get the kind of symbiotic relationship between XIN Net and spammers, it proves to be a win win for XIN Net and spammers. XIN Net continues to financially profit from increasing spammer domain registrations and the spammers enjoy the protection afforded to them by a registar that does not want to rock the boat for fear of losing too much business. Hey if profit is the bottom line for a registar and a good part of that revenue comes from spammers registering with them and the registar realizes that he only has to ignore all the spam complaints and nothing will happen, why would the registar care. What the XIN Net comes is a wake up call from the police or legal authorities that may have the legal authority to pull the plug on them or force them into action.

The solution to the puzzle is a legal one. What XIN Net is willingly support criminal activity and spread of deadly viruses and trojans which endangers the global internet infrastructure as whole, plain and simple. They cannot deny this or plead ignorance as they have been presented with the evidence and have chosen to ignore it.

Since legal juridicational issues come into play and it is established that Hong Kong Police may have the legal jurisdiction to act aganst XIN Net, what I propose is that Castlecops SIRT and Knujon compare notes and draft a letter to the Hong Kong Police citing all the evidence to date and referencing XIN Net's unwillingness to suspend the domains in question, especially in light of the fact that some of the domains may be used in the spread of worms, trojans, and viruses. A letter drafted in this manner coming from the collabrative efforts of both Castlecops and Knujon and anyone else that they can get on board, IMHO, will carry far more weight and may lead the Hong Kong Police to act more quickly than a complaint or letter coming from one individual.

Legal and Internet are hard to come by, especially considering jurisdictions, territories, etc...

And well, it doesn't help that ICANN doesn't even know who or where XIN Net is...

The SpamWiki reports that XIN Net was liquidated months ago, and is now known as China Mobility, based in Vancouver, BC, Canadar or somesuch...yet they are still allowing this XIN Net corporation access to the registry - to add domain names and IP address to the domain name system tables.

Couldn't this be the equivalent of say, having a relative pass a CPR test, handing me their certification card, and me performing CPR, using their card (hey! they are accredditted! lol).

Sure, there's a tad difference, seeing as how CPR is a bit difference than Internet stuffs...lol, but you get my point.

ICANN/InterNIC handed them the keys to the registry as "Xin Net Technology Corporation" - and now they've been liquidated, but they are still allowed access to the registry?

Shouldn't they need to be "re-accredited" or something...?

Nope.

Not even when they come up for renewal. Mad
