So its been a while getting this place opened again, but the idea was to open up a new site just for team CastleCops. We're still working on the type of CMS so in the meantime I have archived all forums under this category and left this one open for now.

We've been missing a place to call home. Thanks, Paul.

If Team CastleCops ever moves forward, perhaps you could create teams for the BOINC projects Cosmology@Home and MilkyWay@Home.

Good news indeed, and the separate site is a great idea as well.

Would it be helpful if I posted the weekly Folding@Home statistics for Team CastleCops here as well as on the wiki? I will need to look out my old stats script but it shouldn't take much to do if people are interested.

You've certainly been doing a fantastic job of posting team stats. Thumbs Up

I'm just not sure exactly what Paul's plans are WRT to a Team CastleCops forum but his post suggests he wants to wait until the new server is available. I will endeavor to get the use of this forum clarified. Smile

Greetings,

Depending on the objectives of the proposed new Team CastleCops site, it might be reasonable to consider incorporating the Going Green forum into that new site.

Best regards,
RL

Assuming this does in fact move forward, there is a little spring cleaning needing to be done to resolve the following issue:

Both of these programs have run well for me with no problems. A beauty of MilkyWay@Home is the system requirements are generally lower than other projects. Take a look at the specs of my "junk" machine

It handles Seti, Spinhenge, and LHC for BOINC and TSC as well. It just doesn't set any records whilst doing so Wink

Greetings,

Until matters are progressed with transferring CC to new management, securing sponsors/funding, etc, everything's on hold.

Kindest regards,

James

Personally, I am not sure that a separate site just for Team CastleCops is actually appropriate anyway. This for two reasons:

  1. If people are interested in the computing, science, research or results to date, it is all available at the Stanford site (in multiple languages!) for Folding@Home, and the BOINC site is a good start point for most of the rest. There are also comprehensive forums for F@H at Stanford, and the main BOINC site plus most if not all of its subprojects have forums as well. Finally, although I do produce statistics for the F@H team, they are also available from a number of sources, some of whom also produce pretty graphs! Without all of that, there is only important/interesting project news (very short summary plus a link), team news/stats and possibly some support and I don't believe that there is enough in that to warrant creating a whole new site.

  2. Putting Team CastleCops on a separate site appears (to me anyway) to "divorce" it from CastleCops itself. Whilst it could be argued that Team CastleCops is not security-related, neither are the forums in the Innovative Minds section but I have not heard any suggestion that these should be given a separate site.

Just my 2p (~4c).

Generally, I would agree with you, patermann!

All things being equal, there are certain advantages to being on a different site, and I would expect the gaming community would join us there as well.

Hoov and "someone" else had figured out stats graphics which would eliminate the need for outside images. I'm positive something could be done internally for a stats page like we used to have. Scripts already exist to port BOINC stats to a page, and as you are aware, php forumss can have games as an installed module. Previously, there was talk of an on-site chess game.

Anything would be better than nothing and I would rather see things go back to the way they were than to have nothing at all.

If you build it, they will come!

Today, I was reminded of this line from "Field Of Dreams", when after posting to the wiki about a new team, I discovered it already had a new member!

Not everything is on hold - just newer things. PIRT is still PIRTing Exclamation
HJT logs are still being examined.
Sponsors and funding are not necessary items to expand Team CastleCops!

I suggest the owners of the Castle Cops team and the CastleCops team get together to finalize the transfers that should have taken place two years ago. Should my assistance become necessary, I would be more than happy to help.

Just don't ask me to sit and do nothing for another two years. Wink
