I haven't seen him posting since the beginning of January. I really appreciate all the hard work he's been putting into his filter-set and wanted to say a big THANK YOU! Your filter-set is working like a charm!!

That'd be a real pity!
He could have left a message here or on his homepage at least...

I don't see any official statement by sidki. "berre1966" is just jumping to conclusions.
AFAIK, he's contributed a lot to the Proxomitron community, and I don't think he'd leave it all behind that abruptly. Maybe he's taking a well-deserved break from filter-writing.

Hello, other Prox users.
I saw that message too about Sidki 'officially abandoning' Proxomitron, and indeed then wondered where this announcment was / is. I too assumed that poster may have been stating his own conclusions.
It is very odd though, for any project, that the 2 main characters vanish without trace. (Sidki and Joe)
Maybe like others, I've scoured the net for any signs of them but can't find any since around the start of the year.
I've been looking for and trying other configs and methods such as Privoxy, but for now at least I've decided I may already have the best option out there. ie Prox and Sidki's January config.
Are there any known recommended updates from anyone to add to Sidki's January config? I've read bits and pieces, but as a 'non regular expression understanding' user, I rarely manage to decide if anything needs updating between config releases.
Thanks for anything.

there is NOTHING out there that comes anywhere CLOSE to what Proxo does...
my guess is the sidki-january will keep us going for "years to come"...
myself and others should be able to "tweak" it when "major" needs arise...
seems as sidki had a New Year's Resolution to spend more time elsewhere... gotta admit, Proxo was eating a HUGE portion of his time...

I've also been very concerned about Sidki & JJoe.
My personal email to Sidki, last week, has gone unanswered.
I wish Sidki and JJoe all the best, and thank them profusely.
Hope that they will return here when they are able.

ok, thanks.
How odd though for both of them to vanish. They aren't real life housemates or anything are they? Isn't Sidki in Germany and Joe in the USA?
They sounded nice so you would have thought they would have at least said 'something' before going.
I'm not one for internet conspiracy theories, but maybe an ad agency has paid them X to stop their work on Prox, seeing as a big part of its usage is about protecting privacy that they like to exploit.

I think this is so sad but I can fully understand how time consuming the configs must have been and that both wanted time to pursue other interests. I wish Sidki and JJoe the best and I thank Sidki for some great configs! I do wish though that they had left a note here or something. This reminds me of JD5000 just disappearing too. Why do it like that? I wouldn't have screamed at JD or Sidki and I would much rather have known what the score was several months ago.
What worries me now is Castlecops appears just about DEAD. Most days I can't get here at all and now it took almost 5 MINUTES on broadband to load this page. I probably won't be able to post this. So, what happens when I need some advice about Proxo or I have forgotten something and want to peruse this forum and the other Proxo ones? If I can't get here...the site disappears entirely...is Grypen still writing configs? I have no idea since it is almost impossible now to cruise this site.
I didn't have Sidki's Jan beta config but I have it now and I see Google ads when I use it. Otherwise, it is fine.
If Castlecops continues dying where will we Proxo fans meet? On the Yahoo group? I have never liked Yahoo so I can't join that group unless I let Yahoo have some cookies. I have never given Yahoo cookies as I never go to Yahoo. Anyhow, will that be the meeting ground? (I'll give Yahoo cookies if necessary). Or do you guys know something I don't and is this site going to come back and be reasonably fast again? Or can someone mirror this forum at a faster server and just to save this (and the other two Proxo forums)? I'm scared that any day now Castlecops will just cease to exist...that is the word on the net.
