Clicking "Update Now" only returns:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Unable to "Update Now". Please select "Full Update".
---------------------------------------------------------------
"Full update" indicates a full download of over 13 MB, but never downloads more than about 5.8 MB.
Will "Update Now" ever work?
Will "Full Update" ever download a full 13+ MB?

It works fine, though sounds like something is disconnecting you from the internet ? _________________ I wish my lawn was emo, then it would cut itself

Hi Mr. Rustic:
Actually, no; nothing is disconnecting me from the internet. I just came home from dinner and downloaded 33 MB of e-mails just before checking this page.
The "Update now" and "Full update" failures are repeatable ad nauseum.
The toolbar works, and the program works, generally. I just can't use "Update now" or schedule it. Having "Update now" scheduled is a real pain unless it actually updates, and the size of the downloads in "Full update" always leaves me wondering what protections were left out.
I've been reading quite a few of these posts, and have already disabled the crapware-catchers, uninstalled and re-installed SiteHound, and checked the Registry for proper settings.
zlib.dll is in both C:\ and C:\Program Files\FireTrust\SiteHound. I don't know what else to do.
This installation is running in Win98SE on a 500MB Pentium with 512M RAM, for whatever value that information might have.

The download is in two parts, the download of the file, then it reads the file in...I forget exactly the wording....I think it says Parsing xxx of xxxx
Is it during the Parsing that this fails or the download itself ? _________________ I wish my lawn was emo, then it would cut itself

Hmmm.... The "Total" download size says 13,792,737 MB (commas supplied by me) and the "Download status" goes to a maximum of 5,839,716 MB, followed by a dialog that says "Update completed sucessfully, Closing after 30 seconds." The dialog then shows a countdown to zero and disappears. There is a button to close the dialog instantly, and there is no mention of parsing.

Sounds to me like something is very wrong there. I'll dig around for a 98 test machine to try this on. _________________ I wish my lawn was emo, then it would cut itself

According to this, you can be forgiven. ... And actually it should be "abated breath" so we're all wrong.

Ahh -- but I chose to use the more poetic form with the apostrostrope in place of the "a"....

I don't know if this means anything, but my C:\Program Files\FireTrust\SiteHound\Config.dat file = 0 (zero) bytes.

I haven't managed to build a 98 machine yet, the old one was recycled and now all the hardware we have won't take a Windows 98 install.
When I'm in the office tomorrow I'll try some different things and see if we can deliver the main file to you through another means. Once that has happened the much smaller updates should be of no problem _________________ I wish my lawn was emo, then it would cut itself
