ORDB has been offline since December, 2006 (http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/12/18/154259&from=rss). Since that time the site had been not responding. This would cause MW to timeout on each lookup and, generally, take a long time to make the "Process Mail" button available. This, alone, is cause enough to remove ORDB from the "Origin of Spam" RBL list.
ORDB continues to be offline, but beginning at the end of March 2008 the ORDB RBL has begun responding with "positives" for every address submitted to it (http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/03/25/2124224). This was done | Quote: | | as a way to get sleeping users to remove the ORDB query from their spam filters. The net effect: all mail is blocked on servers still configured to use the ORDB service |
Because of this, those who haven't removed ORDB from their "Origin of Spam" tool will experience everything being marked as "Origin blacklisted by ORDB".
Users of MW Pro and the 6.x version of MW Free should remove ORDB.
Users of older versions of MW Free don't have access to manage the "Origin of Spam" feature. They should upgrade to the current 6.x version of MW Free (http://www.mailwasher.net) - which DOES allow management of the feature - and then remove ORDB.
Some people are experiencing problems with MW Free after upgrading. Access Violations and problems changing configuration information might be some of the issues. Those people should read this post: /p1057006-Installed_New_MW_6_1_Now_It_Wont_Open.html#1057006 Follow the directions in the post carefully. _________________ "It's just a jump to the left ..."
