|
|
I got a notice to update Zone Alarm on my wife's computer, something I had done earlier on mine. So I downloaded the update file and began the installation. I walked away during the installation and while I was gone, an application that requires permission for registry changes (can't recall what the program is) halted the installation. I returned and clicked "Accept" but then got a message that some file couldn't be downloaded and the installation would have to be stopped. I tried to re-run it but it wouldn't load. It was then I realized that the ZA icon was no longer showing in my system tray.
Well, then I really started getting things messed up. I tried using System Restore, downloaded ZA and tried to do a fresh install (unsuccessfully...it said it couldn't access the server) , etc. I don't know what I've done but now I can't even access the internet (although I'm still able to receive e-mail). zlclient still appears in my list of running processes in Windows Task Manager. When I go to Start/Programs/ZA and click the program, nothing happens, i.e., the ZA window doesn't open.
Can anyone offer suggestions on how I get out of this mess?
Thanks,
Bob

OK, problem's fixed. Impatient me...I couldn't wait for an answer so I employed the quickest fix: uninstalling ZA (and losing all my settings, of course) and re-installing. That seems to have worked and everything's back to normal.
