what causes the reception of a wireless keyboard and mouse to get worse and worse? i use a logitech wireless optical mouse and a microsoft wireless keyboard (it came with a mouse too but i liked my logitech--i used to have a logitech keyboard but it died). I used to be able to keep the receiver about 2 feet from the mouse or keyboard but now, i have to have it around 15 inches or fewer. I've changed the batteries but success is intermittent. Do these things have a half-life or anything???

just those two things and a wireless router--however, the router is not really in "vicinity"--it sits about 3 feet away from the keyboard and mouse. _________________ \

any new thoughts? this is really getting on my nerves. the receiver for the keyboard is now right next to it and it is still periodically acting a fool. I have changed batteries in these things so many times now and nothing seems to be affecting it. The mouse is working...with the receiver 6 inches away. I have never had a problem with wireless devices like these. It's as if they are fading out but I dont know if that is even possible. Old age maybe? _________________ \

the receiver for the key board is now placed 3 inches in front of the key board with ne wbatteries. it is still not working efficiently. there is a 2-3 second delay with anything appearing. The mouse response has improved with the receiver 15 inches or so from th emouse. Still it is confusing how the devices can go from functioning so well 2 feet away to now needing to be right on top of each other in order to work. _________________ \

I think I fixed the problem. Near the receivers was an old cell phone battery from a pre-bluetooth nokia phone that I was disassembling for experimental purposes. I apparently set the battery on the desk right next to the receivers. When I moved it way out of the way, the keyboard and mouse worked well, even from 2 feet away. _________________ \

kinda so far so good. the mouse did not want to respond well. I moved the receiver closer and it picked up better. I would still call it success at this point. _________________ \
