I have a Samsung 940B monitor that has 2 plug ports in the back - a VGA and a DVI.
My computer is using the DVI plug. Can i plug something else into the VGA plug? The monitor allows switching from the digital to analogue signal and i was hoping that my other hardware would be able to connect into the VGA so that i don't have to get a KVM. Will doing this damage the monitor? Will it even work?
To explain a little further what exactly i mean by other hardware, it's this:
I'm getting an Xbox 360 in a few days and instead of hooking it up to my analogue TV, im hooking it up to my digital LCD screen. I already did all the research and this is possible with the "Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable". I want to save some money by avoiding to use a KVM, so i figured i would try to use the unused VGA port in my monitor.

There doesn't seem to be any reason why it won't work. The xbox web site mentions several times that the 360 VGA cable is intended to be used with a LCD monitor and your monitor has a switch that allows only one input at a time - either DVI or VGA. Searching the web with Google yields several references to people hooking up their xbox to the Samsung 940b.

Ah, cool.
I looked through the manual first before i made this thread, but not finding anything about it scared me and i wanted to get the experts advice before trying anything.
Thanks for the replies!
