Hey guys, first of all i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so if i'm wrong pls forgive me

few months ago I bought and installed a new motther board
asus striker extreme http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=1439&l1=3&l2=11&l3=397

to this point it was pretty damn good with a quad, well the board it self i dont think is the problem but maybe the sound card that comes with it.

I use ventrilo on a daily basis playing online games and just today no one could hear me,(no settings changed to my knowledge)

I use a head set with mic attatched, all has been good till now.

k IF i turn up mic boost and all volumes to max i can be heard but distorted and hollow. never had to use mic boost b4....

so to rule out possibility of mic, i hooked up the array mic that came new with my mobo. and with the same results, boost needed to be on as well as all volume jacked right up an still sounded like crap.

next i unistalled drivers then reinstalled drivers and i still have the same results.

i do have a spare sound card but if thats not the problem, i'd rather not change it...

any suggestion that i could try?

Thanks

When you uninstalled drivers and then reinstalled drivers, did you use the drivers supplied from the Asus CD / Asus website? There has been a rash of problems with a recently supplied sound driver in Windows Update for some (notably Dell machines) drivers having conflicts....
