|
|
a tip-off from someone on another security forum, brought to my attention that the screen shot of Prevx2 used on their redesigned website reveals some differences in the GUI.
for example:
1) "Event Log" in place of "Program Activity" and if one looks closely there is some reference to something called Pinnacle.
2) "Scan & Fix Computer" in place of "Scan and Monitor" and more reference to Pinnacle (if one looks closely).
3) "Recent Program Activity" which seems to be a new page.
4) Check For Updates graphical link appears to have been removed.
i decided to download the "new" Prevx2, but the download file seems to be exactly what i have already (version number wise).
anyone have additional info???

I have been a long time Prevx user. At the moment it looks as though it is abandonware. But donīt be to disheartened. There are good alternatives out there, only if you are willing to change and give them a try. Iīm happy at the moment, as Iīm using one that very much reminds me of a Prevx Pro/2 hybrid. Starts with an -M, and ends with a -U.

Another one (my big favourite, WARMLY RECOMMENDED): Starts with a -D and ends with an -L _________________ "Si vis pacem, para bellum"

Sadly, i have this abandonware feeling myself.
I have read that they are developing a "new incredible software" but this was claimed for Prevx2 too, with all his new features, and i can add this one:
if they put so little value in the users of the "old" software, what credit can you give to the new one?
How much time you'll be supported before that, too, is forgotten for new roads?
We are not in the phone business, where you have, according to them, to change after short periods to have shimmering new features, we need long term solutions and good support here.

AMEN brother! you have just nailed what i have been stating so poorly for so long! after just abandoning us without rhyme or reason, how can they expect us to support them with their new/reworked offering.
i do partially disagree with you on the assertion that Prevx2 was not a dramatic improvement over Prevx1. what i assume may be Prevx3, will undoubtedly be groundbreaking (these folks are in my opinion brilliant coders, with a world beater concept) they are just utter dolts where human relations are concerned.
simply no excuse for abandoning their userbase...none.
Prevx, while you may not be able to tell us all you know or even most, why not tell us what you can? we are fighting on the same side, are we not?

Mamatu by Emisoft i believe. i do (i believe) have an open mind. i installed Mamatu a few months ago, in my ongoing attempts to find something to replace Prevx, it lasted around 5 hours. failed nearly ever live malware sample i threw at it. granted that was only 12-15 samples, but it was enough to discourage me.

okay now this one i am at a loss on. just spell it out. if you are worried about somehow offending Prevx, remember it has been them who has turned a blind eye to this forum. them who have ignored are most ardent request for information about the product we paid for and have used faithfully (some for years). why should they get their knickers in a wad because we are discussing alternatives, afterall they drove that bus. and more importantly why should we care if they are upset. they showed little empathy while we were twisting in the wind.
btw i think i got it, are you recommending Defensewall? great app, not a behaviour blocker though.

Defencewall, yes! This brilliant app. gives you much better protection than any behaviour blocker or blacklist scanner.

Its Mamutu. Well I guess you should try it out now. Things, well they can improve, dontīt they ? Look at Prevx back when it was offered for free. By the way, did you contact support (Mamutu ) about the malware leaks ? You need to configure it correctly for max effectiveness by the way. 5 hrs of use, I guess not. Thatīs careless evaluation.
I apologize for not spelling it out, but back when Prevx 2 was still hot, they censor your post whenever you mention their rival software. I assume you didnīt know about it.
Good luck guys with whatever you use. This would be my last post here. Thanks.

what may seem as careless evaluation to you, was more than enough time for ME to establish Mamatu was/is not an adequate candidate to replace Prevx2 on this box. in fact it receieved 4 1/2 hours more than it warranted.
yeah i am aware. i was actually calling them out. for Prevx moderators to ignore for months requests for information, and then show up to censor a post, would have demonstrated beyond all debate, what chickens**t a-holes they are. what? you wanna ban me from a dead forum...please.

Hi, Simmikie
Not a biggie, but i'd like to clarify my thoughts about Prevx --> Prevx2. I'm not English language so, often, i use words without understanding fully what they mean.
What i meant is that they claimed that Prevx2 was full of new features (and indeed it had them also if they are mainly concerned with it's internal behaviour so could be not evident to who only looks at the GUI, LOL) and a short period after developing this new, amazing software they're abandoning their customer's core (paying core, i should add) because of this "new software".
Hope this time i made more meaning
Best regards
