I like two Dell PC's to be able to transfer files and talk, one running Win2K and the other Win XP. Thanks

Rig #1 an older Dell Dimension 8100, 1.3 Ghz, P4, 256MB with two large hard drives..... Win2K. This computer may be a little slower than the new rig, its dialed in. Don't want to rock the boat.

Rig #2 is basically similar, Dell 1.8 Ghz P4 with 512MB memory. It's running WinXP Pro.

Both computers have LAN ports and will be connected to the same router, NetGear MR314, WiFi and hard port.

Computer #2 will primarily be used to support an internet phone (magicjack) and be running all the time. It may be also used as a TV tuner and for DVR duty.

How do you get them to talk? Do they work through router?

I am totally clueless. Last time I tried this years ago was with Win98, serial cables and a modem type deal.

The older main rig has USB 1.1, the new one USB 2.0.

Thank for any references.
