I've been monitoring for 3 months now and our SMS/Vish attack level has drastically increased each month. What is also interesting is that it always starts the first weekend of the month and last 7 days.. like its a cron job.

In the June attack, there were over 20 distinct numbers used in about 40 differnt SMiShing attacks and subsequent automated calls (Vishing) to non-SMS enabled numbers.

The Vishing was always by auto attendant and always early morning between 1AM and 6AM local time. People were not thinking when answering and actually provided information.

I would like to be prepared to fight in the July 4th battle. Does anyone have any good methods to identify the source of SMS test-based messages. The ISPs we called this cycle all said there is no way to figure out where the SMS text msg came from which I find hard to believe.

Any suggestions on how to chase down SMS text base calls?
