I downloaded recent updates for NIS 2005 and was doing a "Scan for Threats," as I usually do.
However, I notice in lower right corner of screen a pop-up that states: "Rules automatically created for the program: America." And "OK" underneath. I clicked on the "OK" and then the pop-up slid down and then comes back again, and again. This never happened before.
What is causing it and how do I get rid of it?

I did turn off/on the notebook and didn't see it again, but what if it comes back tomorrow when I turn on notebook?

Have always had: WinXPsp2/AOL9
Thank you.
Alice

it could be that it has created rules for america online browser or service. Check the firewall rules. Next time don't just allow the automatic rule creation until you checked what prog is allowed.

Thank you.

#1-I've seen that pop-up ("Rules automatically created for the program: America.") on my desktop at times, but it only popped-up once and then slid down. I clicked OK.
This pop-up on my notebook popped-up and then slid down and then popped-up again and slid down and continued doing that.
That is what I was asking about.
If that happens again, how do I stop it from repeating popping-up and down over and over?
#2- How do I check "Firewall" rules? And what would I be looking for?
#3- You said: "Next time don't just allow the automatic rule creation until you checked what prog is allowed." Hopefully, there will not be a next time, BUT when those NIS pop-ups happen, they tell you that something has been done ("Rules automatically created")., they don't allow you the check what prog is allowed. Please explain as we are new to all of this.
Thanks
Alice
