My DVD RW has stopped burning, it just says media not writeable please insert new disc, I have tried many discs but none seem to work. There is no problem with it reading discs.

there be might a problem with the drive as in having to replace it. A recorder part of it might be broken.

Check and see if there is an available firmware update for the drive, as well as making sure that Device manager is still recognizing it as a DVD RW drive as opposed to a DVD *ROM*.

gone into device manager and it comes up dvd/cd rom drives, when i click on it, it opens up and my dvd rw is there. Is this the problem? If not how do I get firmware update?
