Is there a specific error message? Also what Operating system are you running on?

If we could get some back ground info, it would help us envision the problem better.

Does it have its own uninstaller in the Program Files/AVG folder?

To remove AVG 8 you need to run the original AVG installation file (or download and run the latest one from grisoft). After checking your current installation you will be given a choice of repairing or uninstalling.

As you have already partially uninstalled then it may be better to fully re-install AVG, reboot, then run the installer again and choose Uninstall when prompted.

Hope this helps. Smile

Apoligies - I assumed you had installed AVG Free.

There are probably invalid entries in your registry. Download CCleaner and install it. Uncheck the option to install the 'Yahoo! Toolbar' when prompted during the installation process - you don't need it.

Now run CCleaner and click the Registry button on the left. Uncheck 'Unused File Extensions' under the Registry Integrity section for now, then click Scan for Issues. When done, click Fix Selected Issues.

Please take the opportunity to backup your registry when asked and save it to a location you can remember. Then click Fix All Selected Issues, OK.

Close CCleaner, reboot and see if this solves the problem.

Thanks for your reply Mister2 i have ccleaner installed and had already tried that but ive managed to work around removing those files.I found a post on thetecforum with another person who had the same problem,When installing kis8 it detects AVG8.0 in the registry and tells you to uninstall it before it will let you continue,so i manually removed the registry files for AVG8.0(did a backup first)and was able to install kis8 without any further problems.I still have the 3 AVG files remaining with an invalid file path but they didnt stop the instalation of kis8 so i think i will let them be.Thanks for the help anyway
