I'd really like to have a.. let's call it "QuickReply with template" feature that can do the following:

1. right click on a message, select "QuickReply with template >"

2. choose one of the customizable tenplates to send a reply to the sender, e.g.

"Unfortunately you have reached the wrong department. Please resend your inquiry to bugus@company.com.",

"Leave me alone! I don't want any more spam from you.",

"Please unsubscribe me from your mailing-list.",

...or just

"unsubscribe" to get you off mailing lists.

You could also call this feature "enhanced bounce", "manual auto-reply" or whatever.

This has been made before and it remains an excellent idea as it allows the folks that can't bounce due to servers not allowing it or ISP's AUP forbidding it to send a messagfe along that the mail wasn't delivered as expected.

The only problem this faces is the number of forged/fake e-mail addresses on spam. But a message saying something like you suggested is sure better than sending an innocent person a bounce for a message they didn't send.

This feature would be wonderful if combined with header checking to detect forgeries and/or fake addresses and then not send a message along to these e-mails.

I don't use the original bounce feature any more. Most of the spam I receive comes from fake addresses. That makes it unusable for me.

What I'd really like to use the template feature for is to send a short note mainly as a reply to non-spam mail.

I'd like a safety net for autodeleted mail but I'm not willing to risk sending mail to forged addresses just for a bit ov easy cleanup on my part.

I'd still love to see this feature.
