Hi There,

I had a trojan and wnet about trying to remove. I then was told to run adaware which i did and ran through. I am now left with items from the registry that I have de-ticked in MSCONFIG. How can I remove them. I have removed the offending items through a safe mode with command boot.

Additionally I would like to know how they got through. I run AVG anti virus updatinf everyday. I have been advised to review my firewall. I run a Netopia router but have been told to get a software firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ian

Hello flyingdr,

To remove an item from the msconfig startup tab, try using a program called "Starter" using the procedure described here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winme/r1044816317

The Starter download link described in the article is no longer valid; follow this one instead:

Beware! You will be modifying your registry and could cripple your computer if you delete the wrong entry. Be sure to back up your registry before proceeding.

For firewall info, see:

http://www.firewallguide.com/software.htm

You can download some firewall software from CCSP:
