I am sure this will start some kind of discussion.

The complex nature of this site will take time to catch on.

Discussions here are not usually based on an easy download or “Hey just reboot”.

The people that come here are beyond the average user. They are looking for specific help that usually cannot be found anywhere else. The discussions here are on topics that half the people on the net have never heard of.

We want them to come here first instead of last as I have read in the posts here.

We need traffic from the everyday surfer.

Stand back and look at the amount of information that is presented to you on the home page. This is overwhelming to a lot of people.

Maybe the site needs to start out easy and then draw the people to the harder topics as they come familiar with the site?

People what to have fun when they go to a site. The help is an added bonus. If you can have fun and get or give help at the same time you will spend more time there. This is easier said than done. Maybe a forum on not so technical discussions will draw the people in?

We need a gimmick.

Shutdown!! No Paul don't do that. I've been away for a week or so because of computer problems. Even when I'm here I'm mostly a lurker. But there is some much useful information I'd be lost without it.

Ditto I'm comfortable (as I get) with my pc's security. Haven't posted much in the way of questions ect...

But I have been grateful for the patches for phpbb port. I come read the headlines daily. Skim the boards. Been working on a project thats come to a virtual stand still and am soon faced with either making the leap to purchasing some bandwidth and doing my own hosting. Or shopping for an additional host. Mines full and short of a canceled account there won't be any additional space in the near future. Further complicated by the fact the only bandwidth available to me here is high setup cost microwav. Then add to that sometime in the next 5 months am planning a move. New place will have a suitable tower but again this stalls that out. Somewhere in here like Paul I have to get a day job. Dang kids just won't stop growing or eating!

Think ya's could whip up a image link for regulars to add to there sites. Might generate some traffic back. Just a thought. Haven't seen much of the commecial end computercops but I assume as with most network security a couple good accounts can carry a lot of weight. Like any fledgling business ya gotta pay the bills. Perhaps you should expand into the realm of monitering NIDS? There seem's to be room for competition in that market? Most system admins have all they can handle keeping there systems up and patched. Particullarly small operations. But then they tend to have little interest in security. But thats a whole new can of worms and none of my business either.

The niche this particular site is in seems to be hard to catch on a community setting. Although I've seen other security sites like Wilders have a good following of users. I'd love to add more tools in the kit, but the ones there already haven't generated much forums traffic.

The plan was to go to a dedicated server in about 3 or so months time, and offer more services. But I'm not going to do that without an active community.

I like the idea about having a standard image that other sites can use to link to here. I'm not great with graphics though. Mospaw, who did CCSP's graphics is not in any shape to do stuff right now. But if someone could lend a hand and come up with an image for CCSP that fits the standard dimensions, then I can put up a "link to us" page.

As for other things, people volunteered to do this and that, but nothing ever really happened. Hrumph.

I agree with modeling somewhat after pcpitstop. Proxo and other great tools like it aren't the average lazy surfers bag. Browser tests are kinda tough just due to the nature of them. Never did like the ones Fred Langa did. Just having java and flash has more degree of risk then most people want to hear about. Safe demonstrations of scripting vulnerabilities have a certain shock value. And hey they are kinda fun.

I did a little site for fun a while back with some common java scripts. Gets a couple hits a day still. People just prefer let these things go and fix em as they pop up. (lop.com) comes to mind as an example. But I do think that a series of comprehensive tests would be a worth while investment of time. You have a great start with what you have done already. Now just add the bells n whistles so people don't fall asleep mid way through!

Paul make a contest for the set of banners ??? Give it 30 days or something. I'm no artist either but certainly must be a few out there.

Some tools I wanted to create and add would cover the CVE exploits. The ones proposed here are also cool. Right now I'm re-working ZXList, so any further toolkit additions are on hold. Mospaw? Moving, and all that fun stuff.

I for one visit as often as I can, and do mostly reading here. I think this is a fine site. I just don't have much to add. I'm here for all the good "Info" this site brings to the internet.
Your work is not going unseen, these stats reflect this. Keep this site going. It's worth it to me to be a member here, and have the resouces you provide.

Yeah I've been following that too. At times I think some of the spike occur due to the phpnuke files I release. The XSS URL patch was just posted at PHPNuke.org. Also, Nukescripts.com has us listed in their preferred NSN site block list along with a couple other nuke sites. Exposure like that will hopefully help to further the growth of CCSP.
