|
|
Whenever I start up my computer a box pops up that says "would you like to scan your computer for adult related content?" Sometimes a box by "Evidence Scan" pops up but I can not seem to get rid of it. There is no place to uninstall it in add/remove programs and I have ran Spybot Search & Destroy & it doesn't find anything. What can I do? It is driving me crazy!!! Even when I do a search on the computer it doesn't find it. HELP! Thank you anyone that can help!

Hi,
Kindly do this:
Download Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
After installing AAW, and before running the program, you need to FIRST update the reference file following the instructions here: http://www.lavahelp.com/howto/updref/index.html
Now do the following:
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Press "Scan Now"
- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:
Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys.
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"
Now press "Next" again.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.
Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.
If the pop-ups still occur.... download HijackThis from http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html
Save it in a permanent folder. Example: C:\HJT
Note: Do not save in your desktop or temporary internet files directory
Open HijackThis.exe, click Scan.
Click Save Log button. Save the HijackThis log in your desktop then copy and paste the complete content of Hijackthis.log in this thread for review. _________________ It is common sense to take a method and try it; if it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something. --Franklin D. Roosevelt

Hi I did as you asked & when I rebooted the pop-up's still appeared, however my homepage didn't change. But all my icons & buttons & fonts & such are now huge! I don't know why that changed. I did run a new HJT Log & here it is:
