I know there are a few Christians here and I am asking on behalf of a friend for some prayers for her and her situation. I'm going to copy and paste her request.

Thank you all.
Kim

<<<A friend of ours was killed by her husband. He shot her in front of her two girls, who go to school with my girls also. He took the girls and then dropped them off at a friend's house, where he admitted what he did then took off. They reported it to police. Her name was Cynthia. The girls are Brittney and Brandy.

These girls need prayer bigtime. They already had "issues" before this. Brandy never smiles, ever. She's 15, quite heavy and gets picked on a lot at school, then this happens.

Brittney has health problems. Her mother was the one who took care of her. Brittney is 9 I believe.

So much going on with that family now. Not to mention my girls and the rest of their friends at school, plus Cynthia was known and loved by literally everyone in this very little town where we live.

Her husband shot her SIX times. Twice in the head and four times in the chest, then just left her laying by her car. WHY the girls didn't say anything I don't know, maybe because their father took them at gunpoint and they were scared, I don't know... but no one found Cynthia for a while.

Our little town is pretty much in shock. I know our family is. I was somewhat okay until I called up to where she works to express our family's sympathy to her boss, Bruce, who is also a friend of ours. Cynthia's voice is still on the answering machine. Of course! Why wouldn't it be? But hearing it really made everything hit home. I hadn't even stopped to think they'd close the place after this, though I probably should have if I had been thinking straight.

Cynthia was one of the few nice people I've ever met since living here. When I first came up here to visit my husband when we were first dating, she was actually the first person he introduced me to.

Cynthia used to make my kids goody bags and call me to bring them up to pick them up. She went out of her way to be nice to people.

She used to drive my girls to school with hers every morning a couple of years ago, which is when my girls and hers got close. Brandy was in every class of Cathie's (my daughter) except for band.

So many people tore up about this, so many people in need of prayer.

The only redeeming thing in this entire situation is that I was presented the opportunity to explain to my girls that even someone who does something like this needs prayer. If that can even be considered a redeeming thing.

Please keep everyone involved in prayer, especially these two girls, Brandy and Brittney. One is with the grandmother and one is with the aunt, because the grandmother can't afford (not sure any more than that??) to keep them both at this point.

I also know there wasn't enough money for a funeral/burial for Cynthia, so people all over around here have/are taking up a collection. Prayers for that needed as well.

Thanks,
DonnaLynn>>>

Oh Mrs. Hoppes...I am so sorry...May our Father comfort this family, and bring someone special in the lives of Brittney and Brandy...I will pray for them and for you and your neighbors...
"They" say, "the world has to get a lot worse before we see the return of Christ"....I believe 'they" live in a bubble, and for them the world begins and ends at their doors...For this family and these girls, this is as bad as it gets...I am so sad.

I share your friend's friend's grief. Those poor girls will need a lot of help to cope with this. I hope they get it.

I will add this family to my prayer list. This whole family needs as much help as possible. Unfortunatly, our system focuses much on punishment and little on help and reform. My heart goes out to these girls and their family.

Dear Mrs. Hoppes,

Such a loss, I am terribly saddened. It is a shame that someone is capable of such things. I can only imagine the emptyness He must have been feeling to be led to such destructiveness.

I am also very saddened that there are people who don't get as nice of a life as others. It is a difficult thing to cope with, and I DO pray those girls find a little comfort from God from this event.

Reguardless, we must all understand that these things happen for a reason. It is all part of God's great plan, and while that man will SERIOUSLY pay for his crime, it is unimaginable the effect on the world this one event has already made. It shows us many things, different things to different people, but it showed me that things that happen, no matter how secluded they may seem, can still find their way out in places no one thought possible.

Do not lose hope, do not lose faith.
