Hello! I have a huge problem in that I'm 90% sure my personal home laptop (Dell Inspiron 8000 Windows Millenium 2000's) been violated but am 100% novice when it comes to the technology. . . here's some background. I work for one of FL's top 3 places to work . . . it's a great company, very sophisticated IT Dept, I've been there a long time. A couple years ago my dept was assigned a new manager w/zero people skills and tons of IT skills. Several folks were displeased w/his "policing" us, you know, instead of being a leader providing motivation and positive feedback, he was looking for mistakes and then making a mountain out of it; he was what I'd call a bully. Well, we'd finally had enough and reported him to HR who investigated and took corrective action, etc. Retaliation was not an option for him per HR, and everything seemed okay. I went on a 2-week vac, when I came home, I noticed on my laptop (that I paid for myself), that there were some strange new files; and when I started to dig deeper, realized there were some old ones that i know i did not create. Can you help me with this? For example, I now have programs called Windows Instrumentation Management, Microsoft .NET, Windows Script Host, and something called Symnet Redirector Updater, plus something called SSDPSRV in my C:\Windows\System directory that loads from Registry (Machine Service), plus two Saturdays ago, my entire Outlook Express email account vanished, well it didn't vanish, but all my folders, all sent emails were wiped out somehow. I look forward to hearing from you, and I will try to attach a file for starters. Thanks for helping all of us out here in novice land! P.S. I need proof that I can take to court!!! Shocked

Diamazon, here is some info for you.

Windows Instrumentation Management:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/pnppwr/wmi/default.mspx

Microsoft .NET
http://www.microsoft.com/net/basics/

Windows Script Host:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/script56/html/wsoriWindowsScriptHost.asp

SSDPSRV:
It's an application that provides Simple Service Discovery Protocol and General Event Notification Architecture services for the Universal Plug and Play functionality and is a component designed for the future generation of plug and play devices. It's a system process (keep!)

Couldn't find anything about this one: Symnet Redirector Updater
Could you have meant Symantec Redirector?

These are all legit programs. Hope this helps. Very Happy
