In the last few weeks, I've noticed a few issues. I have several firewalls/virus, worm, etc fighters, and so forth installed. I have EZ Firewall (came with my internet). I also have something called "spybot, search & destroy".

Anyway, lately sometimes when I open a web window, it will make multiple copies of itself (up to 70+ at one point in a few seconds) until I Ctrl-Alt-Del and "end tasked". This doesn't happen often though. Also, some popups have started back (I have several "blockers" supposedly).

Anyway, a few days ago, my computer started freezing on websites (not the same one each time, no common bond). The computer wouldn't even respond to Ctrl-Alt-Del sometimes.

The one common thread we've seen is that when we're shutting down, a box says "Cannot close hpcmpmgr.exe, closing end task could cause loss of info" or something like that. This has never shown in the Task Mgr window, and I have no clue what it is. It hasn't always been on there either.

Any clues? Thanks in advance for your help.

So, I'm guessing that's an ok or maybe even a good thing? This file won't crash my computer?

Thanks for your quick response!
