When trying to go to http://192.1 (per instructions with router) to configure the router it says page cannot be displayed.

You don't have the correct address for your router. It should have an address like http://192.168.0.1 {my router does}. In any event, you need 4 seperate numbers although they may not be :192.168.0.1 . Look in your router's instruction book.
