Hi!
in a former post
someone has mentioned how to disable IMDB's celebs ads
(the pro ad seems to be disabled even without the filter).

I have noticed that those ads ARE disabled in the search page,
but NOT in the actual movie details.
Why is that?
And what the correct way to REALLY have them disabled?

Thanks!

"I have noticed that those ads ARE disabled in the search page,

The HTML that generates the page must have changed.
It has changed again today.
The problem with this filter was a line return,
src="
http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=imdb-rec-search-20&l=st1&search
The Original filter's match would need to read
"<iframe * src=" http://rcm.amazon.com*"*"
The space in front of http matches the line return.

"And what the correct way to REALLY have them disabled?"
Instead of this filter, you could probably add to your
blocklists but not everybody has the same filters and lists.
To help everybody it is usually best to provide
stand-alone filters.

Here are the changes I made yesterday to MnO's filters:
Changed all "url matches" so everybody may be
able to use the filters Smile
Moved to $AV. See "Matching Commands"
in Proxomitron's help.
Every line of my comments will begin with #
This should allow you to import all the filters below at
once Smile Proxomitron 4.5 will ignore my comments.
Just copy everything below and import.

[Patterns]
Name = "Filter IMDB Amazon Ad"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<iframe\s*</iframe>"
Limit = 900
Match = "*src=$AV( http://rcm.amazon.com*)*"

Name = "Filter IMDB Rating-stars"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<img\s*>"
Limit = 100
Match = "*src=$AV( http://i.imdb.com/*star.gif)*"

Name = "Filter IMDB Vote here"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "(<A HREF=$AV(ratings)>)\1*</A>"
Limit = 128
Match = "*<IMG*SRC=$AV( http://i.imdb.com/f45.gif)*></A>"
Replace = "(\1"
"<font size="1">Vote here</font></A>)"
#The idea here is to catch the "Vote" link and save it to
#the matching variable \1. Then match the source link for
#the button gif and replace it with the text "Vote here"
#The source code
#<a href="ratings"><img src="http://i.imdb.com/f45.gif" alt="Vote Here"
#align="bottom" border="0" #width="64" height="21">
#</a>
#The original filter could be changed to
#Name = "Filter IMDB Vote here"
#Active = TRUE
#URL = "us.imdb.com|www.imdb.com"
#Bounds = "<A HREF="Ratings*">*</A>"
#Limit = 128
#Match = "<A HREF="Ratings*"><IMG *SRC="http://i.imdb.com/f45.gif"*></A>"
#Replace = "    (<A HREF="Ratings">"
# "<font size="1">Vote here</font></A>)"
#/ratings to ratings, src to *src, and the unnecessary variables
#have been removed

Name = "Filter IMDB Celebs 1"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<a\s*>"
Limit = 512
Match = "<a*href=$AV( /tiger_redirect*hotstore)*>"
#hotstore was added cause this one seemed to match things it shouldn't

Name = "Filter IMDB Celebs 2"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<(img|image)\s*>"
Limit = 160
Match = "<(img|image)*src=$AV(( http://i.imdb.com/Photos/CMSIcons/N*)\1)"
"*alt=$AV(\2)*>"
Replace = "<a href="\1">"
"<center><font size=1 color=red>"
"\2"
"</font></center>"
"</a>"
#The idea here is to catch the broken code left by "Filter IMDB Celebs 1"
#and change it into a text link aimed at the image used in the ad.
#Problem with the original filter was "img" tag changed to "image".
#Also it seemed to match things it shouldn't
#These two filters could easily be one.

Name = "Filter IMDB Google Box"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<iframe *src=$AV( /google/box*)*</iframe>"
Limit = 300
Match = "*"
#I added this one. It should shorten the page.

Name = "Filter IMDB Try Pro Free"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<div *i.imdb.com/pro/pro-skinny-tools-400.gif*</div>"
Limit = 256
Match = "*"
#Added this one too.

Name = "Filter IMDB Top Frame Sponsored Links"
Active = TRUE
URL = "[^.]+.imdb.com"
Bounds = "<div*pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead*</div>"
Limit = 700
Match = "*"
#Yep

#HTH and HTW, hope they work Wink

Wow, you're good...

I think Proxomitron did a good job on his own with censoring the
sponsored links and the amazon shoutout, but I decided "what the hell?"
and merged all your filters and they all work!

Anyway, if there's ever a new Proxomitron version, I think one of the
new features should be dividing the filters into categories.

IMDB should have a category of its own...Wink

I've been using the anonymous IP's IMDb filters for years now. But as of July, 2008, "Filter IMDB Amazon Ad" needs to be replaced with:

Code:

[Patterns]
Name = "Filter IMDB pulse360 Ads"
Active = TRUE
URL = "(*.|)imdb.com"
Bounds = "<iframe\s*</iframe>"
Limit = 900
Match = "*src=$AV( http://\w.pulse360.com*)*"

I'm also thinking about deleting the other filters because I don't think they do anything anymore.
