I was trying to view my friends computer using remote assistance and I received a message saying that access was denied. I assume that it is because of my firewall; I am connected to a router. Does anyone know how I can view using remote assistance?

Hi fuzbol20,

I don't know if you or your friend have Remote Assistance configured correctly on your machines. Take a look at the following MS post for instructions;
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/remoteassist/intro.mspx

There is a site with screenshots showing you how to set this up here;
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/winxp_remote_assistance.htm

From what I can find, Remote Assistance uses port 3389 but you could be getting the rejection because the clients computer doesn't have rights to recieve remote assistance in their group policy settings.

I don't know if this will really help you any. If you need more, get back to me here. Smile
