Of course you don't need to hear it but this is why critical files need to be backed up.
To answer your question, depends how they were deleted - did you check the recycle bin?
When you say personal files, do you mean doc files, or photos and the like? I ask because Restore is more for the application, system, configuration type files and not for saved documents - after all, you don't want Restore to undo any editing you wanted to keep.
There are several recovery programs available, Google on "file recovery" (with quotes to search for the string) and undelete (without quotes since it is just one word). There are many programs designed for this purpose.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend any as I have not used them. Possibly others here on the forum can. I did find a freeware program that looks promising called PC Inspector here: http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/download.htm
If the lost files were corrupted due to a failing disk, nasty virus, improper shutdown/power failure, you may be out of luck.
If you need more assistance here, please provide results of these actions and info on your system such as the OS, and disk drive config (number of drives and if partitioned or not).
Keep us updated. Good luck. _________________
