Hey all, I'm running out of ideas here. I'm attempting to install AVG Free Edition 6 on a machine running Windows XP Home SP1.

Each time that I double click the install self-extracting file, it brings up the WinZip Self Extracter, I press "Setup" and it appears to extract. Then nothing happens. I checked the Task Manager and all that has appeared to change is that NTVDM is running at or around 100%.

I re-expanded the autoexec, config, and command files from the Windows disc, which changed nothing. I also have attempted to install from safemode, which garnered the same results - or non-results as it were.

I also ran AdAware and Spybot S&D with their latest ref. files, to be sure the machine was clean. I also ran Norton WinDoctor from the disc and fixed various problems. None has changed the status.

Let me know if there are any other ideas as to what I can do on this. Thanks.

Ah, forgot to add that I've already scanned with CWShredder and HiJackThis! just to be sure the system appeared clean.
