I've picked up a virus and now my AVG won't run and I can't access anti-virus websites.

I assume my registry has been altered or something.

What should I be looking for. thanks

Your next step would be to post a HijackThis Log in the HijackThis Forum, but I want you to try something first. It's probable that the malware has re-written your Host file. Here is a way to fix it:

Download the Hoster.
Press 'Restore Original Hosts' and press 'OK'
Exit Program.


Then try to go to: HouseCall Free Online Virus Scanner
and run the online virus scan. Please select the Autoclean option when prompted.
