Hi Jacked.

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://www.fastwebfinder.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.fastwebfinder.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.fastwebfinder.com/sp.php
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.fastwebfinder.com/hp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,Shellnext = wmplayer.exe //ICWLaunch
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ld] C:\WINNT\ld.exe

Reboot and delete:
C:\WINNT\ld.exe <-- file

I am unfamiliar with these two:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [x3watch] C:\Program Files\X3watch\x3watch.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [aseye] C:\winnt\system\aseye.exe
Are you able to give us any info/links on them ?
It would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Post a new HJT log when done please.

X3Watch must be this: http://download.com.com/3000-2381-10155998.html?tag=lst-0-1

I believe I've seen this Aseye.exe thingie before, but I don't remember whether we got find out what it was.

If a look at the properties of the file won't reveal its origins, would you please send a copy of C:\winnt\system\aseye.exe to submit-stuffATxs4all.nl for analysis? (replace "AT" in that e-mail addy by the familiar @)
We'd like to have a closer look at it!

Much appreciated Smile

I have the same problem with therealserach having hijacked my browser, i've tried a couple of little things but realize this appears to be out of my scope or knowledge. for example i would not even know where to find the log that you posted etc. is there a step approach to getting this off my system? also is there anything outthere that prevents this etc like firewalls?

thanks

Hi Junkdog,

Here is a good place to start: CastleCops Link/t911-Before_You_Post_Read_Follow_These_Rules_and_Guidelines.html

Start your own thread following those instructions and someone will be happy to help you get rid of it.

Regards,

Pieter

I am trying to get rid of therealsearch.com homepage that was illegally placed on my computer. When I clicked on the link below for fastwebfinder in order to get rid of it I am sent to therealsearch homepage. This is not funny or perhaps they highjacked this website address. Please help me.

Download the latest version of CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom.
Run it, press 'Next', and allow it to fix all it finds.

It has just been updated to include detection and removal for this variant.

Next, go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
