|
|
Hi there,
I have WIN XP Home on my Desktop with the following security programs installed:
Norton Antivirus
Norton Firewall
Antispam, Spamnet from Cloudmark.com
Since some time I receive a Norton Firewall advisory message asking me to block: "CMEII/CMESys.exe", when I open my email program, Outlook 2002.
Does anybody know where this exe is coming from? I find it quite annoying and would like to get rid of it...
Hoping to get some positve feedback,
Greets,
iPAQBjorn

Hello,iPAQBjorn & Welcome
Did you have Gator installed at one time then
uninstall it if so this maybe your problem if you
like to give Ad-Aware a try it will scan your puter
for spyware/adware & more
Ad-Aware 6 Build 181 download
How To: Update Ad-aware's Reference File
Run Ad-aware 6 with the Full Scan settings....
How To: Perform a "Full Scan" With Ad-aware 6 Build 181
Please make sure that you have these options checked:
Under Ad-aware 6 > Configurations (The gear wheel) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
"Unload recognized processes during scanning."
Under Ad-aware 6 > Configurations > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
"Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Please leave "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" - UNchecked
Also, please check to see if you have the option "quarantine all objects prior to removal" checked. Open Ad-aware > General Options, there is an option "Automatically Quarantine objects prior to removal."
Now i'm not sure if the lit you post the Logfile here so
post it here http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/
posting logfile directionshere.
Good luck

Installing Lavasoft's AdAware 6.0 and running it is one of the best ways to remove "gator" malware. Make sure you update for the latest definitions before you run it. You also might want to consider something like Spywareguard from Javacool, to prevent reinfection.

Please do the following:
Go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results. _________________ Tony CLSID List
