Pacman,
Of all the hits for subject name - your old site on SWI showed a "This happened to me" with 8 hits. I have been unable to find any of those postings. I am hoping you can help. I have a charge on one of my accounts to this name - the predominant sites on a search are for cloth covered buttons - and I don't sew. Hoping you might be able to shed some light based on previous posts to your old site.

Thanks

Fried

I just had a charge from Astor Berning show up on my bank account as well. It's a software company that sells a program called "MilleniumPad". Their website is http://www.milleniumpad.net.

They do not answer email, and no one answers their phone or returns the messages left on the voicemail system. The language on the website leads me to believe that the people behind the site are not English speakers.

They are hosted by addr.com, a company whose technical support people are all apparently Indian, so there's not a lot of English-speaking help avaiulable there, either.

I can't get anyone from Astor Berning to acknowledge this problem at all.

I have just received a credit card statement and it contains a charge from this astor berning. I cannot recall ever ordering anything from this company or person as I had paid off the account. Anyone else with this experience?

I'm sorry but I haven't visited my old SWI forums for some time so I can't recall any such subject and old posts are deleted - indeed I thought the forum would be.

It seems like there are a few people in the same boat (Google Groups search) and the only solution has been to query the transaction and request a new card number.

Other than that I don't really know.

I also noticed a charge on my credit card under the merchant name astor berning of Delaware. Phone no given with it was a fax machine with a voice mailbox. The charge was only 9.55 and as happened with me, many people would not notice it until they do close scrutiny of their statement. Probably the scammers think that they can get some money from thousands of people if they scam a rather small amount instead of hitting one card with big amount, which is going to be easily noticeable. I have cancelled my card and reported the matter to my card company.

My credit card company left me a message about a possible fraudulent charge. Sure enough, Astor Berning in Wilmington DE. $9.55. Card companies are becoming aware quickly...

I have also had a charge of $9.55 from this Astor Berning company. Disputing it with my bank as we speak. Wonder how many people don't notice these small charges? More worrying is how did they get my account number? Confused

I just had the same charge, and when I typed "Astor Berning" into goggle to try to find who it might be from, I found this discussion. The credit card company is reversing the charge. Thanks for the info you posted.

A visitor E-mailed me this if you're interested:

"I wanted to tell everyone that is having an issue with Astor Berning that I
spoke with the Attorney Generals office in Delaware.
I also directed them to the link discussing Astor Berning.
Additionally I clicked on the link mentioned on computer cops and sent that
web sites customer service address a very strongly worded e-mail.

Today when I looked at my account on line, the 9.55 is back in my account.
I think this is good, but of course it also tells me they can come back in
anytime so I still need to change my banking info."

Chalk up another one for Astor Berning and their US$9.55 scam. Credit card company immediately reversed 1st March transaction when protested, but this seems evidence AB is still at it and able to get through card company security.

We could make this a front page story and bring the attention to the public on a wider scale.

Hi all,

Just checked my statement, and there is a charge for $9.55 charged by ASTOR BERNING 800-307-6961 DE. I plan on contacting my credit union in the morning.

We need to get this information out to a wider audience.

Cheers,
Chris

As of March 21st 2005 I was hit with this same charge. $9.55 from one Astor Berning. This is being protested and, of course, my card changed. Damn these creeps and crooks.
